Yokohama Tire and Surfrider North OC Team-Up Again to Remove Trash From a Local Beach
Event is part of Yokohama’s ongoing “Caring for our Communities” program
Yokohama Tire is once again riding the wave to protect the world’s ocean and beaches along with Surfrider Foundation North OC. The tiremaker and the local chapter of the nationally recognized nonprofit Surfrider Foundation teamed-up recently to cleanup So-Cal’s Seal Beach, filling dozens of trash-packed bags weighing in at more than 100 pounds of unsafe debris.
The event was a continuation of the various environmental projects Yokohama and Surfrider have jointly worked on the last three years. Surfrider is part of Yokohama’s ongoing “Caring for our Communities” program.
“It’s been truly gratifying being a part of Surfrider Foundation’s North OC Chapter ongoing work to protect the environment, especially the beaches and oceans,” said Alan Holtschneider, Yokohama’s senior director of marketing. “We continue to volunteer on numerous projects with them, and the successful Seal Beach cleanup was another great example.”
Yokohama also continues to support Surfrider Foundation’s North OC Chapter with the distribution of student club memberships; water quality testing kits; cigarette butt collection canisters; and replacement equipment for harbor cleanups.
“It’s all part of Surfrider’s ongoing mission to protect and preserve the world’s ocean, waves and beaches for all to enjoy,” said Holtschneider.
“We really appreciate all the help Yokohama Tire has given us over the years,” said George Manyak, longtime event coordinator for Surfrider Foundation North Orange County Chapter. “Their support has made a major impact on keeping our local beaches clean and safe for visitors to experience.”
